Panasonic Lumix G3

A new hybrid mirrorless, interchangeable-lens camera features a new 16.0-megapixel sensor and full HD video, and continues the trend to more compact sizes

Anyone looking for a combination of still and motion capture in a small package that's easy to hike or travel with will be interested in the new Panasonic Lumix G3. The camera's newly developed Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor has the highest resolution of any Panasonic G-series camera to date.

			ISO Performance The combination of a new Live MOS CMOS image sensor and a new Venus Engine onboard processor gives this third-generation Lumix G-series camera significantly improved ISO performance. The range is ISO 160-6400, and at the higher ISOs, Panasonic claims noise reduction is improved by some 200% over the previous generations of G-series models.
New 16.0-Megapixel CMOS Sensor This new-generation Lumix G-series interchangeable-lens camera has a 16.0-megapixel Live MOS CMOS sensor. It's the first G-series model to depart from Panasonic's well-regarded 12.1-megapixel Micro Four Thirds chip. To handle the increased image data and improve speed and overall image quality from the new sensor, there's also a new Venus Engine FHD image processor.	Compact System Micro Four Thirds interchangeable-lens cameras are smaller than most DSLRs, but that's only half the story. The format allows for considerably smaller lenses, as well, so you get a much smaller overall camera system. The G3 measures 4.54x3.29x1.84 inches, which is smaller than the previous G-series bodies.	Pinpoint AF Touch-screen AF is enhanced with the new Pinpoint AF feature, which zeroes the AF near the pixel level. Pinpoint AF can be set by touch control anywhere on the LCD panel. The Precision Contrast LightSpeed AF system is fast, and manual-focus control is available. You can enlarge the image 4x on the LCD screen to see your focus point clearly, and that focus area remains viewable on a small inset window on the screen so you can see the whole scene as you focus.
